We Buy Silver Miami | Sterling, Antique & Bullion | CJ William

We buy silver in Miami at live spot pricing and at maker premium for antique pieces. Bullion, sterling flatware and hollowware, signed antique silver from Buccellati, Tiffany, Georg Jensen, Gorham, and English Sterling, pre-1965 US silver coins, and scrap. On-site XRF testing in our Surfside showroom at 9573 Harding Avenue. Same-day cash for transactions under $25,000, same-week wire for larger.

Here is what most Miami silver buyers will not tell you: nearly all of them weigh your pieces and pay melt value, even when the piece is worth several times that at retail. A Buccellati hollowware bowl, a Georg Jensen tea service, an English Sterling tray from Garrard, these carry maker premiums that get destroyed the moment they hit the melt pile. CJ William keeps a working inventory of antique silver. We know which pieces carry collector value and which are melt-only, and we pay accordingly. That is the wedge.

What Silver We Buy in Miami

Antique and Signed Sterling Silver

This is the category where CJ William is meaningfully different from other Miami buyers. Hollowware and flatware from Buccellati, Tiffany & Co., Georg Jensen, Gorham, Reed & Barton, International Silver, English Sterling from Garrard, Asprey, Mappin & Webb, and Hester Bateman. Tea services, trays, candelabra, serving pieces, and full or partial flatware sets. Maker premium is paid above melt where it applies, which is often most of the value on signed pieces.

Sterling Silver Flatware Sets

Full and partial sterling silver flatware services. Major US patterns (Francis I by Reed & Barton, Strasbourg by Gorham, Chrysanthemum by Tiffany, Repoussé by Kirk Stieff, Grande Baroque by Wallace) and major English and Continental patterns. Recognized patterns carry pattern premium above melt; less common or worn pieces are valued at melt with a fair adjustment for wear.

Investment Silver Bullion

American Silver Eagle, Canadian Silver Maple Leaf, Vienna Philharmonic, Australian Kookaburra and Kangaroo, generic silver rounds, and bars from recognized refiners (Royal Canadian Mint, Sunshine Mint, PAMP, Asahi, Engelhard, Johnson Matthey). Sealed mint tubes and monster boxes welcome. Typical payout: 94 to 96 percent of spot.

Pre-1965 US Silver Coins

90 percent silver US coinage: Morgan and Peace dollars, Walking Liberty, Franklin, and Kennedy half dollars (1964 and earlier), Mercury and Roosevelt dimes (1964 and earlier), Washington quarters (1964 and earlier), and 40 percent Kennedy half dollars (1965 to 1970). Common date junk silver paid at typical melt. Better date and key coins (Morgan Carson City, Walking Liberty short set keys) priced at numismatic value where applicable.

Scrap, Damaged, and Unidentified Silver

Single sterling earrings, broken chains, dented sterling pieces, unmarked silver to be tested, and unrecognizable scrap. Everything tested on XRF for purity, then paid at refiner rates less a small handling margin.

How the Process Works

  1. Initial contact. Call (347) 510-0668, WhatsApp, the inquiry form, or walk into the Surfside showroom at 9573 Harding Avenue.
  2. Identification and testing. Hallmarks and maker marks examined, XRF testing on bullion and any unmarked pieces to confirm purity. You watch the readings happen.
  3. Weighing on certified scale. Calibrated scale, displayed weight per piece or per lot, live spot reference at the moment of the transaction.
  4. Written offer. Per-item or per-category line items, melt vs maker-premium breakdown, spot reference, and total.
  5. Payment. Same-day cash for transactions under $25,000 (with ID and Form 8300 if cash exceeds $10,000), same-week wire for larger, USDC or USDT available for digital-asset preferred clients.
  6. Documentation. Bill of sale showing weight, purity, maker (where applicable), spot reference, and payment method. Suitable for CPA, IRS, estate, and insurance records.

Selling Estate Silver in Miami

Estate silver is one of our specialties. Inherited flatware services, family tea sets, antique trays, and signed pieces from major makers regularly come through our Surfside showroom and our traveling appraisal service for collections over $250,000. We coordinate directly with the estate attorney, executor, or fiduciary, provide written valuations suitable for probate and IRS step-up basis documentation, and structure payment to fit the needs of the estate account. This service is part of CJ William’s broader luxury asset liquidation practice.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kinds of silver does CJ William buy in Miami?

Investment-grade silver bullion (American Silver Eagle, Canadian Maple Leaf, recognized refiner bars), pre-1965 US silver coins (90 percent silver), sterling silver flatware and hollowware, antique and signed silver from Buccellati, Tiffany & Co., Georg Jensen, Gorham, Reed & Barton, English Sterling from Garrard and Asprey, and silver scrap.

Why is CJ William different from other silver buyers in Miami?

Most silver buyers melt everything to spot value, which destroys collector and maker premium on antique pieces. CJ William keeps a working inventory of antique silver and knows the difference between a Buccellati hollowware piece worth several thousand at retail and a generic sterling piece worth its melt value. We pay collector premium on identifiable maker pieces, melt value on the rest, and we explain which is which on the spot.

How is your silver offer calculated?

For investment bullion we typically pay 94 to 96 percent of spot. For pre-1965 US silver coins we typically pay 88 to 92 percent of melt value. For sterling flatware and hollowware (.925) we typically pay 78 to 85 percent of melt value. For signed antique silver from major makers, we value at maker premium which is often well above melt. For damaged or unidentified scrap we pay refiner rates less a small handling margin.

Do you require ID to sell silver in Florida?

Yes. Florida law requires precious metals dealers to verify the seller’s identity and record the transaction. Please bring a government-issued ID (driver license, state ID, or passport).

Do you buy silver flatware sets and hollowware?

Yes, and this is one of our strongest categories. Full and partial sterling flatware sets, tea services, trays, candelabra, and serving pieces. Major US makers, English Sterling, Italian, and Scandinavian pieces all carry maker premiums above melt.

What about silver plated, EPNS, or Sheffield plate?

Silver plated and EPNS pieces have only a thin layer of silver and do not have meaningful melt value. Sheffield plate and significant antique decorative pieces may have collector value independent of metal content. We test, weigh, and explain honestly.

Do you report sales to the IRS?

Cash transactions exceeding the IRS Form 8300 threshold ($10,000 in a single transaction or related transactions) require federal reporting by the buyer. Wire payments above the threshold do not trigger Form 8300. We provide a bill of sale and payment confirmation for your CPA in every transaction.

Can I sell silver to CJ William remotely?

Yes. Send clear photos including any hallmarks for an initial estimate, then ship via fully insured FedEx overnight using a label we provide for transactions over $5,000. Payment is wired the same day we receive and verify. For full estate silver collections we travel anywhere in the United States.

Ready to Sell Your Silver?

Bring the pieces to the Surfside showroom for same-day cash or wire. Out of state? Send photos for an estimate, then ship insured.
